Career Highlights

Managing The Eyeopener‘s 2025 sports issue, “Blurring the Boundaries,” has been the most fulfilling project of my journalism career so far. This special issue featured 20 stories spread across a 16-page print issue and online content, including two editorial videos. My co-editor and I sought stories of people pushing the limits of sports for the betterment of themselves and others and that stretched the confines of university sports coverage. It was an ambitious project that brought together my love for sports, passion for research and reporting and desire to make a real difference through journalism.

The 2025 U Sports University Cup was a stellar experience that put a nice bow on everything I have done reporting on sports in university. Along with a writer, photographer and my co-editor from The Eyeopener, we travelled to Ottawa and covered not only the TMU Bold’s journey to a fourth-place finish but the entire tournament and its greatest stories. This all came the weekend before “Blurring the Boundaries” was published, making for a busy, yet unforgettable, weekend.

During my final semester at TMU, I was fortunate to take on an internship at Maclean’s magazine. Working with the Maclean’s team at the St. Joseph’s Communications office was an invaluable experience and I am extremely grateful to have met journalists I look up to, gained some bylines and learned a ton about the inner workings of the magazine industry.

Covering the Mississauga Steelheads for Intermission Sports offered me an extensive and unbelievable opportunity to harness my skills as an interviewer, writer and multimedia journalist. I was able to work my way up the ranks of Intermission Sports, curate some relationships in the press box and put my skills in reporting, analysis and news writing into the articles I wrote.

The Professional Women’s Hockey League kicked off at the best possible time for me as a third-year journalism student at TMU, where the Toronto Sceptres played their first season. As part of our coverage at Intermission Sports, I reported on the first Battle on Bay Street, where the league set a record (since surpassed) for the highest attendance at a professional women’s hockey game.
